Chapter 11

The Crystal Trial

Looking around the fifth floor, I noticed that the room was a little larger than the rooms we had come from.

“Kaji, I feel as if this room won’t be as easy as the other ones we’ve gone through…”

“What makes you say that?” Kaji looks back at me, “I think your stupidity is kicking in again.”

“Well, the room looks bigger, and there are these weird crystals everywhere.”

“Oh, really? I couldn’t tell that there were crystals in here, that is so interesting.” Kaji says sarcastically.

Suddenly, from behind Kaji, the crystals begin to move.

“Uh, K-Kaji… The crystals are moving behind you.”

“Origami. Do you really think I would believe crystals can move? The Commander making you come here was a mistake already, and now you’re just being stupid.”

Why doesn’t Kaji believe me? As Kaji continued to look at me with a suspicious expression, rocks with crystals on them began to roll together.

“Damn, this place is loud,” Kaji says. “I guess we are pretty far underground. Must be terrain above us making all that noise.”

As Kaji was saying this, the rocks formed together, which seemed to make a large golem. Could revenants really do this?

“K-Kaji… there's a large revenant behind you…”

“Origami, I have had it with your stupidity. I guess I’ll just turn around to see an all so scary… golem…”

Kaji stood there for a while, dumbfounded. The look on his face was priceless.

“Huh. I guess you were right, Origami. Well, let’s just take this bad boy down!” Kaji dashes towards the golem.

“Kaji…” I trailed off.

Once Kaji has his mind set on something, he never lets go of it.

“Take this!” Kaji struck the golem, the shock sending him backward, “What?!”

His attack was useless. The golem seemed unfazed. Kaji kept blindly attacking the golem. The golem just stood there, not moving a single muscle, well, a single rock.

“Damn! How hard is this monster? I can’t even make a dent in it.”

“Kaji! Maybe we should retreat and come up with a plan.”

“I don’t think that is necessary.” Kaji looked at the golem. “I have already won this battle.”

The golem continued to stand there, until eventually falling over.

“It seems like my attack did have an effect. The damn thing was so damaged that it couldn’t even move.”

The golem was still attempting to get up. It was as though it could not feel pain at all!

“Damn! This thing won’t die!” Kaji shouted.

The golem seemed to be damaged heavily. It had a huge hole in its stomach. How is it still able to move? Wait a minute, is that its core?

“Kaji! The core is exposed!” I warned.

“I got this!” Kaji leaped in the air and knocked the revenant back down. He lifted his crusher and prepared to crush the golem’s core. “This is it!”

All of a sudden, the golem exploded into a bunch of small crystals. The crystals scattered all over the room. The ground beneath us was beginning to shake. All the red crystals started forming together, creating an even larger golem.

“Kaji! Look out!” I shouted as the golem was bringing its large arm down onto Kaji.
